There was a doco about it on Deutche Welle. Several bankers
who later became government ministers were involved in hiding
the existence of accounts. What's more they were alos invoilved
in hiding assets and paintings the Nazis stole. At one stage so
they wouldn't be discovered they secretly sent some of the
stuff by rail elswhere and most of it has never been found.

Your description of the documentary does not say that people were
keeping assets for themselves merely that they were hiding the
existence of them. your earlier post stated that people were
keeping assets for themselves, something I have never heard until
you posted it.

Please clarify what is wrong? Is it the figures for the accounts,
my statement that I have not heard that people kept assets for
personal benefit (something the documentary you mentioned does
not seem to corroborate) or the findings of the Bergier and
Volcker commissions?

Was the documentary released after Volcker issued his report?
Obviously if it was later, new evidence might have come to light
but my assessment of the Volcker Committee report is not wrong.

It was after the Volcker Reoport. The doco was Deutche Welle about
a year ago.
Apparently some of the bankers had enriched their own bank accounts
after the war, from bank accounts of victims. The Swiss Government
wanted that kept quiet because two or three of them were also
poiliticians.
I believe they are all dead, so none could be charged..

All dead? How convenient. Call me a professional cynic but I don't
just smell one rat here. I smell two.

Why would Deutche Welle lie in a doco?
They would be shooting themselves in the foot.
